This course contributed fulfill MLO 1 and 3. This course was taught in Spanish by Dr. Fernández. This course was extremely interesting, but there was a lot to learn. In this course we had the opportunity to learn about the history and culture of Latin America starting from the pre Columbian periods to the present. In the beginning of the course we learned the pre Columbian civilizations. For example, the Olmecs were the first civilization. We also learned about the conquests and the explorations of the countries that were in Latin America. This course helped me understand the reasons of the conquests and the wars for independence. The majority of the classes we would complete comprehensive questions regarding to the chapter we were assigned that day. The comprehensive questions helped to review the most important points of the chapter. Along with that we had quizzes to be able to prove if we comprehended the material we learned in the class. In the second quiz I obtained an “A+”. For this course we were required to do a presentation about a country of Latin America. Our presentation was about Venezuela, we had to focus on the present what is happening to the country that its on their economic crisis. This course relates somewhat to Span 304 with the historic context like the wars that they were going in Latin America it highlights the literary movements that authors broke out with their poems or prose. This course taught me interesting things and what I intend to in the future is too keep up with the history of Latin America.
